Spectrum Runner Places at State CC Meet

Junior Matthew Helser placed 66th out of 176 runners at the Minnesota Class A State Cross Country Meet at St. Olaf College in Northfield on Saturday, November 5.  Helser completed the 5,000 meter course in 17:08.

“Last year was the first that Matt trained during the summer to prepare for the season and it made a big difference”, said coach Rick Peterson.  “He is an exceptional young man and has been our top runner all season long.  It was exciting to see his hard work pay off at the state meet.  It was also fun to have 15 other Spectrum runners make the trip to the state meet to cheer for him.  The commitment level of the entire team this season was a positive step forward”.
