Student Drop off/Pick Up – High School Building

2017-2018 School Year

PURPOSE:

Student safety is the number one priority of Spectrum High School.  In addition, being good neighbors to the other businesses within the business park is also important.  With that in mind, we ask that you, please, adhere to the following instructions regarding student drop off and pick up at the high school building.

TRAFFIC FLOW:

All traffic in the high school parking lot flows in a counterclockwise direction regardless of the time of day.  Please follow the directional signage and do not enter against the flow of traffic.  Thank you!

NEIGHBORING BUSINESSES’ DRIVEWAYS AND PARKING LOTS

Student drop off or pick up is never allowed in any other location other than on Industrial Boulevard and the Spectrum High School parking lot.

  • Student AM Drop Off:  We encourage all students be dropped off on Industrial Boulevard, adjacent to the sidewalk; however, student drop off is not allowed in the bus drop off/pick up zone (please see map for more information.)  Students may then safely walk into the school utilizing the sidewalk and crosswalk.

As an option, you may enter the school parking lot, following the counterclockwise traffic flow, and drop students off at either the Event Entrance (located on the south side of the building) or the Main Entrance (located on the east side of the building) PROVIDED that you utilize the inside driving lane closest to the building.  The outside lane is for thru traffic only.  Once you have dropped off your student, and they have safely moved beyond your vehicle, please move into the outside lane of traffic and exit the parking lot when you are able.  We ask that you be courteous and mindful of the others, and execute the drop off process as quickly as possible.

  • Student PM Pick Up:  We strongly encourage student pick up take place on Industrial Boulevard, adjacent to the sidewalk (please see map for more information.)  This will allow students to use the sidewalk and crosswalk to safely walk to where you are waiting along Industrial Boulevard and will minimize congestion in the high school parking lot.  You may idle in the marked “no parking” areas on Industrial Boulevard as long as you remain in your vehicle.  Again, please be mindful of the bus drop off/pick up zone and do not wait in this area for your student.

Although strongly discouraged, you may enter the school parking lot, following the counterclockwise traffic flow in the inside driving lane closest to the building, to pick students up at either the Event or Main Entrances.  Please Be Aware . . . you may be asked by one of the parking lot attendants to circle the building if your student isn’t ready for pick up as soon as you reach either the Event or Main Entrance.  Unfortunately, we cannot allow drivers to remain idle waiting for students as this severely backs up traffic.  Please, if you choose to pick your student up by driving into the parking lot, it is extremely important that your student be at the door ready and waiting for you to arrive.

As always, if you have questions or are in need of additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us.  Thank you, and we look forward to a safe and successful school year!
