This course is a hands-on course. Students take pictures using Canon Powershot cameras, or a personal DSLR camera while learning the basics of photography. Students study the art elements and principles of design as well as the photography rules of composition. They learn how to use the camera settings such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO to create good photographs. Students gain valuable skills by working with the powerful Adobe Photoshop CC program to edit their photos. The culminating final project is a collection of photographs following a theme. Students write their own artist statement and present their final photos to the class.

Class fees:  $27.00 (payment of the fee allows the student to bring home projects from this class)

Advanced Digital Photography

Grades:  9-12

Credit: 0.5

Prerequisite: Digital Photography I

In this course, students continue to explore their personal photography styles and interests. Students go more in-depth with Adobe Photoshop and how to edit photos. Students also explore how photography skills can used in a variety of professions, such as photojournalism and portrait photographers.

Class fees:  $27.00 (payment of the fee allows the student to bring home projects from this class)
